Did I ever mention how I really don't care for skating? I really hated the cold and the way the skates made my feet hurt. Dad made a backyard rink once in hopes that I'd become a hockey player and it ended up only being used by my sister.
I feel your pain. I really didn't like skating while I was growing up. Fortunately, my parents never pushed it on me (It helped that I took up skiing, though).
Heh. Last February, about 2 week before I moved down here, there was a "snow storm". It apparently consisted of little more than a light skiff of snow.
By all accounts, schools were closed and drivers were advised to stay off the roads. The only people that showed up for work were those from Colorado or Canada.
i used to hate the way my feet hurt in skates too. but then i learned the secret.
Take Off Your Socks.
I love the *sound* of skating. Ksssh, Ksssh, Ksssh, and the feeling of the wind against my face. And the way the faces of the people watching you all blur together so that they're all just one big human blob.

Meh. It's been that way for us the last 3 years here in Cali. You get used to it. And NOT miss the snow (at least if you're sane).
Nobody's every accused me of being sane. I like the snow. Just not the cold.
What good is rain in December if to doesn't flood your BACKYARD RINK!!!?

I'm not a very good cold-weather Canadian.

I would sympathize with you, but being from the "wet coast" of Canada, it's a tad tough to do. ;-)
Besides, if you wanna get really freaked out, try Vancouver when it snows. (And we get no sympathy when it does!)
