It's been a rough couple of weeks. I don't know what it is, specifically, but I'm pretty much at my wits end right now. It isn't the stupidly long hours that I've been pulling - I'm pretty used to those by now. It isn't the pipe that burst above my office, collapsing the ceiling and flooding my office with a mixture of water and mouse feces - I wasn't in the office at the time, and no important paper got ruined. It isn't the idiocy that I face every day - I'll rant for a bit, have a drink, and then I'm fine.

Whatever it is, I've just about had it. I've really lost the drive for this job, and I'm not sure that I want to be down here much longer, and I'm also not sure if I want to be in this industry much longer. Financially, it's great. Regarding everything else, I'm not so sure.

Anyhow, at the end of the week I'm back to Calgary for two weeks to write my APEGGA exam and get my eyes lazored. While I'm lying around blind, I think I'm going to do some serious thinking about what I want out of life.

Ummm.... (big hug)... I don't know what to say to make you feel better.... But many people love you and want you to be happy...('nother hug)... (and 'nother)... You should try not to think about anything for a while, be nice to yourself. Eat ice cream and watch a zombie movie. Sometimes that cheers me up. (BIGGEST OF HUGS)

Yep. I know that feeling. I gave up $23,000/year in pay to get a job that I liked more and a place where I want to work two years ago. Did I miss the money? For about 3 whole seconds then I realized being happy is much more important than getting paid lots. As long as you have enough money to live, the extra isn't all that important.

So when are you moving back to Canada and should I mention our office is looking for help shortly? *grin*

Hey - I know you!
It has been a long time. If you'd be interested in something in Edmonchuk let me know what you've been up to and I'll see what I can find.

I know you too!

Edmonton's a slight possibility, but most of the oil companies have their offices in Calgary, so that's the more likely prospect. We'll see. I'm not going to do anything too quickly.

Sadly, I'm back to the backwoods on August 3rd. Have a good time here, though.

Hey Buddy,

Looks like you're in the same place I was a few months ago. The best thing you can do is shake up your situation.... move back to Canada, take a job not in the oil sector, whatever.... just find what makes you happy.

My move to SK was probably the best thing for me professionally and personally. Best wishes to finding a similar ending for yourself and thanks for the awesome reference so I could get this job at Honey Bee.
