That's not severe...

AccuWeather just informed me of a severe weather alert for the area tonight:

A FREEZE IS EXPECTED IN PARTS OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY MORNINGS.

A VERY COLD CANADIAN AIRMASS WILL SETTLE OVER THE AREA TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY...AND BRING VERY COLD TEMPERATURES TO PARTS OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS. MORNING LOW TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE MID TO UPPER 20S OVER CENTRAL ARKANSAS BOTH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY MORNINGS.

For god's sake, put on a sweater and quit whining about it.

And get off my lawn.

Heh heh... California does the same thing. SEVERE WEATHER ALERT! DANGER! DANGER! POSSIBILITY OF... FROST!!!! WOE!!!!

Like I keep saying, though, even +5C is a lot less pleasant to live through when the inside of your house is designed to be the same temperature as the outside.

Agreed, and I'll admit that the humidity makes +5C seem a lot colder here than in Calgary. Still, I don't see the reason to panic unless they're expecting several consecutive days of subzero temperature (at which point, most of the pipes down here would freeze).

A warning along the lines of "bring your pets inside and cover up your temperature-sensitive plants, dumbass" would suffice, as far as I'm concerned.

BTW, were the fires anywhere near you? I'm assuming not, since you haven't mentioned them.

Nah, those fires were all down in LA. About 700 km away.
